AEON donated for Myanmar Flood Disaster

On 26th August 2018, AEON Orange Company Limited, AEON Microfinance (Myanmar) Co.,Ltd., AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand) PLC., AEON 1% Club provided donation of total USD 34,000 to Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement through The Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) to relieve the disaster victims.

Due to the monsoon in the end of July, there were 150,000 people evacuated in 160 shelters in affected area. Especially in southern area, there was flooding that damaged famous pagoda and there are still people staying shelters.

With this, AEON Orange donated USD 2,000 by the donation activities at AEON Orange and its staff, AEON Microfinance (Myanmar) donated USD 2,000 from its staff, AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand) PLC donated USD 10,000, and AEON 1% Club donated USD 20,000.

We hope the donation will help all of affected Myanmar people to recover their normal living soon.

The 2nd time of 3rd 3-year Myanmar Tree Planting Project was successfully finished by AEON Environmental Foundation and Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) was held on 7 July 2018 around Hlwaga Lake located outside Yangon.

This time, we planted 13,000 trees with total participant of 1,300 guests from Japan and Myanmar, Ministries and AEON Microfinance (Myanmar) staffs.

The AEON 1% Club opened 35 schools in Myanmar for 1st project of 3 year plan (2012-2015). As the 2nd project (3 year plan), we made the partnership with the international NGO “ADRA Japan” till 2019 and aim to open 20 schools.

On 29th Mar, 2018, we opened the schools at “Oh Poh West Primary School” in Twante District located southwest of Yangon from which about 260 children will learn.

Japanese language speech contest was held at School for the deaf, Mandalay on 29th Jan, 2018 as the promoting the languages between Myanmar & Japan. This contest is organized by Kyoshin Co., Ltd. & Kyoshin JETC Co., Ltd. and AEON Microfinance (Myanmar) Co., Ltd. is also supported as one of the co-sponsors. We congratulate all of this year’s contestants and extend a warm thank you to the families and all audience members who took the time to support and ensure the success of the event.

The AEON 1% Club Foundation held AEON Scholarship Certificate Granting Ceremony on Monday, Dec 11th 2017 for 119 Myanmar students from Yangon University of Economics and Yangon University of Foreign Languages. The Aeon Scholarship is an allowance-based scholarship for university students in various Asian countries and self-financed Asian students studying in Japan.

The project was started in 2006 in the hope that recipients will play an active role in the future connecting their home countries with Japan in their respective specialist fields. In addition to year-round financial support, the project offers opportunities for various study curriculums and volunteer activities aimed at scholarship students studying in Japan, and provides support for students aiming to develop into global talent. At the Scholarship Certificate Granting Ceremony hele in the respective countries, scholarship students give speeches on their personal drams and goal.

The AEON 1% Club foundation held the school opening ceremony at Sar Phyu Su village on 29th Mar, 2017. We have built total 35 of schools in Myanmar from 2013 to 2014 and another 20 schools are planned to build in 2017 to 2019.

The AEON 1% Club Foundation held AEON Scholarship Certificate Granting Ceremony on Monday, Dec 12th 2016 for 118 Myanmar students from Yangon University of Economics and Yangon University of Foreign Languages.

 

AEON Scholarship is a program that helps Asian students realize their dreams by providing financial support. The program began in 2006, based on the desire to build a bridge between Japan and other countries from Asia through a scholarship system. This system targets self-supporting exchange students from Asia studying in Japan, as well as university students from various Asian countries. So far 4,458 students from 34 universities in Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia and Myanmar are awarded.

The Teenage Ambassador program is to help young people cultivate understanding and a spirit of friendship across different cultures. Between Japan and Myanmar exchange program is second time in this year. 16 students from Hokkaido Noboribetsu Akebi Secondary School in Japan will have an opportunity to exchange cultures with students from Basic Education High School No. (1) Dagon.

Japan and Myanmar Teenage Ambassador: 1 – 6 November, 2016

16 students from Japan stayed in host families in Myanmar in Nov’16, and 16 students from Myanmar will stay in host families in Japan in Feb’17.

  • The 1st 3-year Myanmar Tree Planting Project was successfully finished. The project which is agreed to extend for additional 3 years by AEON Environmental Foundation and Minister of Yangon Region was held on 16 July 2016 in the forest near Hlawga National Park.
  • This time, we planted 10,000 trees with total participant of 500 guests from Japan, 1,100 volunteers from Myanmar, Ministries, Scholarship Students, AEON Microfinance (Myanmar) business partners and all staff.
